Free Party Space for Locals |

As part of the annual “Love the Locals” celebration, Fun Things Etc is offering their event space for free. What better place to have a child’s birthday party than at the premiere specialty toy store in Haywood County. Fun Things Etc has over 700 square feet of party space that can be used for most any type of event. They also offer theme parties ranging from pirates to princesses or just about any type that is requested.
Denise Teague, owner of Fun Things Etc. commented, “Some of our most interesting and popular parties over the last few years have been Harry Potter, American Idol, and Under the Sea. We offer most any theme and can provide all the decorations, party favors, and cake. We can even provide staff to run the entire event. Of course if you just want to rent the space and do all the planning and work yourself, we will have the party room ready for you, and the best part is free room rental for locals through the end of April! ” |

Love the Locals Announcement |

Fun Things Etc announces the annual “Love the Locals” event to begin February 1st. Local residents are encouraged to visit the store for exclusive “locals only” discounts and special giveaways. Individuals must have some form of ID that shows that they are a resident of Western North Carolina such as a driver’s license, school ID, phone bill, etc. New specials will be featured each week of the month. In addition, surprise events will be added and announced as the event progresses. In February of 2009, 28 Downtown Waynesville businesses participated in Love the Locals by offering specials to honor the contributions of the local population to the success of the business community. Denise Teague, owner of Fun Things Etc. commented, “As the economic situation that has gripped our nation continues to impact each of us, it is vital that we all support small businesses as often as possible. It is only because of the support of the local community, that Fun Things Etc. continues to survive. Rockslide Forces Closure of Interstate 40 in WNC, But No Need to Cancel Travel Plans
Though a rockslide has forced the closure of Interstate 40 near the North Carolina/Tennessee state line at Exit 451, there is no reason to postpone or cancel a visit to the beautiful mountain communities in Western North Carolina. While those coming from other directions are not affected in any way, several alternate routes are available to those with plans to travel to Haywood County, North Carolina, from Tennessee and other points west on I-40.
